Invention of the Geometric Inference Engine. While working at Xerox Parc, Martin Newell and Dan Fitzpatrick came up with the idea of the Geometric Inference Engine.

1989

Development of Vellum CAD, a 2D drafting application for the Macintosh and founding of Ashlar Incorporated, Sunnyvale, California.

1992

Development of Vellum 3D wireframe.

1993

Localization of Vellum for various markets.

1994

Porting of Vellum 3D to Windows 3.1.

1995

Support for surfaces.

1996

Porting of Vellum 3D to 32 bit Windows by Cosmoworks, Famotik and Armonicos.

1997

Support for surfaces and volumes extended by Armonicos, Hamamatsu, Japan. Some of this code has been disputed due to copyright issues and was therefore removed from DesignFreeQ.

2000

Vellum GmbH, Miltenberg, derives Draftboard from Vellum 32 bit source code.

2011

Cosmoworks derives the DesignFreeQ App from Shark-Designer’s Japanese version of Vellum 32 bit source code.

2015

Cosmoworks develops AutoCAD DXF/DWG interface.

2018

Cosmoworks ports DesignFreeQ to 64 bit Windows.

2019

Cosmoworks ports DesignFreeQ to 64 bit macOS.

2021

Cosmoworks ports DesignFreeQ to Apple Silicon (M1/M2) on macOS.
